Layer the hair, parting it in sections as you go, brushing in the direction the hair grows.

Dogs with Long, Flowing Coats: Use long, gentle strokes that continue beyond the ends of the hair.

Dogs with Harsh Outer Coats and Woolly Undercoats: Brush once a week, being gentle to avoid removing excess undercoats.

Dogs with Curly Coats and Terriers: To avoid dead hairs creating mats, groom this coat type frequently. Brush twice going from the skin to the tips of the hair, once in the direction the hair grows and then in the opposite direction.
